The Quilt Raffle for 2012 is one we are especially excited about!
It is an initialed and dated Presentation Quilt, donated to us by long-time antiques dealer and 1949 Raytown High School graduate, John Titus, to Honor his wife, Priscilla, now deceased, and also an RHS graduate.
This is a Summer Quilt, on white background with skillfully done red embroidery (often called “Turkey Red). There are 56 individual squares, depicting typical designs of the period. The center focus of this treasured heirloom are the initials of the maker( or honoree), “A.M.S.”, and clearly established date of 1889.
The dimensions are 74 inches by 83 inches, making it a fit for Queen sized bed, or would be outstanding as a wall hanging, to fully showcase the excellent workmanship.
Imagine yourself owning a 122 year old Quilt of this quality and beauty !!
